Mushroom Photo (2018)

The Gowganda Projects are in short my way of documenting my progression in photography.

The project started in 2013 without me even knowing it when I got my first DSLR camera at 15. This small rural town of Gowganda holds a special place in my family as German and Polish immigrants came to Canada after the devastation of WWII.

When I went up I had no initial intentions of shooting anything in particular. I was taken out of the loud, light-polluted, 401 race of the concrete landscape of Southern Ontario to empty roads winding around lakes and marshes, hoping not to encounter any small or large creature to dart out from the brush. The landscapes were different every day, the skies constantly changing every shade you can think of, every star in the night sky visible, and the wildlife was unafraid.
